Train to Gain (woman)

Train to Gain


Train to Gain forms part of the government's national skills strategy aiming to improve the skills of those employees aged 19 and over. Under Train to Gain people who are employed can undertake NVQs at level 2 and 3 and can also receive training to enhance their literacy and numeracy skills.

Adult Apprenticeships

Following changes to the LSC funding structure, Apprenticeship programmes are now open to those people aged 25 and over.

Once a Train to Gain qualification has been completed, learners can up skill to a full Apprenticeship programme by achieving their Key Skills and Technical Certificates.

Key information regarding Adult Apprenticeships:

  • Eligibility is identical to LSC 19 – 24 funding for Apprenticeships (L2) and Advanced Apprenticeships (L3)
  • Available for Level 2 and Level 3
  • All learners need to have completed their key-skills by 50% length of stay on programme
  • All learners need to have completed the technical certificates by 50% length of stay on programme (not Hospitality)
  • This is an ideal qualification for anyone who is over 25 that did not qualify for Train to Gain due to prior achievement
  • May be suitable for learners who are not eligible for Train to Gain
